Antarctica is the world's most southern continent, situated almost entirely under the Antarctic Circle. It contains the Geographic South Pole, and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean. It is the fifth largest continent by area, at 14.0 million km2 , or 5.4 million mi2. It is also on average the coldest, driest, windiest, continent, and has the highest average elevation, and the lowest population.
